Bitten by a rattlesnake, Martín dies just as he crosses the border. A hummingbird will help him emerge from the darkness of death to embark on a journey through the land where he was born and reunite with his loved ones before winter arrives.

Chuparrosa was selected from over 1,000 entries receiving an Honourable Mention for the International Short Film Award at the 2025 Multicultural Film Festival. The film was an emotive piece of storytelling with powerful cinematography transcending borders that resonated with Australian audiences on its Victorian tour.
