Hay un monstruo en el armario; eso dice Bruno. Su hermano mayor está dispuesto a terminar con la pesadilla. Un disparo involuntario con la pistola de papá será suficiente para acabar con el monstruo imaginario que ha cruzado el umbral de la realidad.

There’s a monster in the closet—that’s what Bruno says. His older brother is determined to put an end to the nightmare. An accidental shot with their father’s gun will be enough to destroy the imaginary monster that has crossed the threshold into reality.

DIRECTOR

Productor, director y guionista cinematográfico. Ganador del Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (20ª edición) con Visiones infantiles y primer lugar del Angular Script Festival (2023) con Itsï Uëtsini. Productor de ANIMAL Film Fest y miembro del Consejo Técnico de la Red Michoacana de Festivales de Cine; integrante del Consejo Evaluador de FOCINE (2023–2024). Director de Bell y Muevecosas; actualmente impulsa la ruta de festivales de Chuparrosa, produce Visiones infantiles y desarrolla el largometraje documental Cantores.

Producer of ANIMAL Film Fest and member of the Technical Council of the Michoacán Network of Film Festivals; served on the FOCINE Evaluation Committee (2023–2024). Director of Bell and Muevecosas; currently overseeing the festival run of Chuparrosa, producing Child Visions, and developing the feature documentary Cantores.

NOTA DEL DIRECTOR/DIRECTOR'S NOTE

Como adultos, es común que ignoremos lo que ocurre en el universo infantil, ese lugar donde la vida comienza a tomar forma y que solemos asumir como seguro, dejando de lado su dimensión más oscura. Mi intención es adentrarme en ese territorio y, de la mano del espectador, extraer una amenaza desde las sombras para confrontarla y erradicarla.

Se trata de un juego de complicidad en el que el hermano mayor no solo escucha, sino que siente, arropa y decide sumarse al campo de batalla del menor. Juntos enfrentan aquello que no se nombra, pero se percibe. La obra busca rendir homenaje al niño que todos fuimos y a esos enemigos que habitan en la penumbra, a los que tuvimos que enfrentar para crecer, para seguir adelante y, en ocasiones, simplemente para poder dormir.

As adults, we often overlook what happens within the world of childhood—that place where life begins to take shape and which we tend to assume is safe, ignoring its darker dimensions. My intention is to enter that territory and, together with the audience, draw a hidden threat out of the shadows in order to confront and ultimately overcome it.

The film is an act of complicity in which the older brother not only listens but also feels, comforts, and chooses to join the younger brother on the battlefield. Together, they face what cannot be named but can always be sensed. This work is a tribute to the child we all once were and to the unseen enemies lurking in the darkness—the ones we had to confront in order to grow, move forward, and sometimes simply be able to fall asleep.

Comunicólogo con más de 30 años de experiencia en producción audiovisual, especialmente en televisión, y recientemente en gestión cinematográfica. Supervisor de VFX para Ángel Caído en Monster, Grupo Creativo; director de Cambiante e Inesperado, productor de Chuparrosa y fotógrafo de Bárbara y Muevecosas; jurado en festivales internacionales de cine de horror. Productor de ANIMAL Film Fest; productor general y responsable de distribución en ROT Movie Makers; coordinador de la Red Michoacana de Festivales de Cine y miembro del Consejo Directivo de FANTLATAM.

Communications professional with more than 30 years of experience in audiovisual production, particularly in television, and more recently in film production and cultural management. VFX supervisor for Ángel Caído at Monster Grupo Creativo; director of Cambiante and Inesperado; producer of Chuparrosa; cinematographer of Bárbara and Muevecosas; and jury member at international horror film festivals. Producer of ANIMAL Film Fest; executive producer and head of distribution at ROT Movie Makers; coordinator of the Michoacán Network of Film Festivals; and board member of FANTLATAM.

DANIEL MALVIDO

PRODUCTOR/PRODUCER

Es cineasta y comunicólogo, con experiencia en periodismo, fotografía documental y producción audiovisual. Su corto de ficción Gerry’s Baby Blues (2016), fue seleccionado en el FICM (2016). Co-dirigió el cortometraje documental Goyito Campeón (2017), ganador en el Festival Zanate -Mejor Cortometraje Universitario (2018)-; que además participó en el FICG, DOCSMX, entre otros.

Es freelancer del audiovisual como parte de La Negra Producciones, y fundador de Fauces Guion, un taller permanente de escritura de guion. En 2022, ganó el concurso Circuito Nacional de Artes Escénicas Chapultepec. En 2024 ganó el apoyo Focine -Post Cortos-, con la ficción Silenciados.

Filmmaker and communications professional with experience in journalism, documentary photography, and audiovisual production. His fiction short Gerry's Baby Blues (2016) was selected for the Morelia International Film Festival. He co-directed the documentary short Goyito Campeón (2017), winner of Best University Short Film at the Zanate Festival (2018), and also screened at the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), DocsMX, among others.

He works as a freelance audiovisual professional with La Negra Producciones and is the founder of Fauces Guion, a year-round screenwriting workshop. In 2022, he won the Chapultepec National Performing Arts Circuit grant. In 2024, he received the FOCINE – Post-Production for Short Films grant for the fiction short Silenciados.
